ATLAS RADIO CONTROLLED SINGLE LINE BUCKET OPERATION

The Atlas Radio Controlled Single Line Clamshell bucket is designed for use on a crane that has only a single hook.

The bucket is mechanically closed by means of wire rope reeved around steel sheaves in block and tackle fashion. The sheave block is connected to the center section by means of a mechanical latch, which is locked by a hydraulic cylinder.

The opening operation is initiated by the operator pressing the open button momentarily on the transmitter, which opens a valve allowing the latch to release. The center section then lowers, opening the bucket. The opening speed is controlled by two hydraulic cylinders, which allow the bucket to open softly.

To make the next grab the open bucket is lowered onto the material. The hook is then lowered until the sheave block rests on the center section and the latch is locked. The hook is then raised which closes the bucket and fills it to capacity.

As the hook continues to rise, the full bucket lifts out of the material and can be moved to the discharging location.

The radio transmitter and receiver have a preset frequency and are encoded to ensure no accidental opening of the bucket by other transmitters. This also allows several radio-controlled buckets to operate closely without interference.

The bucket can also be opened manually by pulling a small rope to open the valve.

A complete Operations Manual with maintenance instructions, lubrication schedule, parts list and parts drawing is supplied with each bucket.
